Dance Workshop with Sarmishtha Sarkar
Ishti Collective is proud to present a series of dance intensives with Sarmishtha Sarkar, an internationally recognized performer, choreographer, and mentor with extensive experience across the U.S., India, and Europe.
About Sarmishtha Sarkar
This intensive is a rare opportunity to work personally and closely with a true master of performance with decades of expertise and accolades. Sarkar is also a master teacher and mentor. In this workshop, she will pull something new out of every participant, regardless of their artistic background.
While deeply rooted in Bharatanatyam, Sarkar’s pedagogical approach extends across movement traditions. Her workshops focus on abhinaya (expressive storytelling), clarity of intention and physical articulation, narrative development, rhythmic frameworks, and choreographic methodologies. These tools support dancers and interdisciplinary artists working across a range of forms.
About the Workshop
The intensive is designed as a flexible, modular experience. Participants may enroll in individual workshops or the full series.
Participants will have the option to continue into a performance scheduled for July 9–11 as part of Movement of Many: 10 Years of Ishti. Participants must have attended at least 1 of the workshops and must attend the culminating session on Wednesday, July 8 (6–9 pm).
The July 8 evening session at bim bom will focus on integrating material developed throughout the workshops into a collaboratively generated short work.
6–9 pm | Rehearsal & Integration An open rehearsal space to begin weaving together material developed across the workshops into a shared piece. Participants will collaborate, refine ideas, and shape a short work for those choosing to perform. Only participants who opt to perform July 9-11 attend this session. No cost affiliated.

We'll move through guided imagery, investigating what it feels like to be a creature, to be curious, to be in relationship with the world around us.

The Anger Project: Performance Event No. 2
The Anger Project is a body-based, socially-responsive artistic practice rooted in community and creativity. Through workshops, performances, and films, we create space for people to move through anger. What we do shifts depending on resources, location, and the people involved, but at the heart of this work is a commitment to honoring anger through collective expression, deep listening, and radical presence.
On August 21st we are hosting a multimedia event with film, performance, and post-show discussion at BimBom. Conceived and directed by Haas. Created and performed by Haas and Helen Lee.
Suggested contribution of $20 (NOTAFLOF).

movement philosophy
facilitated by Madison Mae Parker
Movement Philosophy gathers to read writings (articles, poems, songs, essays, & more) and explore them through movement, the arts, and community. In an attempt to take the academy outside of the institutional walls, in an attempt to tap into the wisdom innate within our bodies, in an attempt to trust the wisdom of the land, how might we be in relationship to the text alongside one another?
Your favorite elements of a college lecture (the discussion), meets embodiment explorations, meets community engagement, meets reading circle adjacent!
We will gather for a small meditation and check-in, followed by a quick guided movement, reading of our texts together, discussion, followed by more movement, creative exploration (writing/drawing/making of any kind), before we close out with a final discussion time.
Sliding scale of $15-35 for drop-in (actual cost $25).
Sliding scale of $80-$240 for the 8 week series (actual cost $160, totaling $20 per class).
Sliding scale of $40-$120 for 4 week series
(actual cost $80, totaling $20 per class).
This is for all people wanting to explore embodiment, somatics, writings, world building/dreaming alongside others in community. All bodies, physical abilities**, and experiences to writing, academic texts, somatics, the arts, and more are welcomed.

GROUP SHAKE
facilitated by Dana Mulligan.
GROUP SHAKE is a collective solo durational movement practice. After a short introduction, we will move to music for an hour, focusing on shaking and rocking and allowing the body to move naturally--free from concerns about skill, rhythm, or appearance. Afterwards, there will be a closing circle to share anything that arose during the shake. This is a space for tending to your own body in community, without touch or interaction with others. It may resemble dancing, but the intention of this practice is to release tension and energy. Shaking is beneficial for circulation, nervous system and systemic health, and community building.
Suggested donation: $5-15, cash or venmo at the door (no one turned away for lack of funds!)
