Mad Myth Science is the collective musical offering of Molly Jones, Julian Otis, Wilson Tanner Smith, and Ben Zucker. Their through-improvised performances present a rich cross-section of Chicago creativity, bringing experience in jazz and creative music, contemporary composition, electronics, and dance and theatrical performing arts together into a pageantry of sound and spontaneous rituals.

Cristal Sabbagh is a teaching interdisciplinary artist influenced by film, history, politics, Butoh and improvised sound. In her performances, her goal is to embody transformational memories, challenge power structures, and awaken viewers' senses. Cristal has found that working with live improvised music has inspired her best work, which has become vital to her practice.

She is currently curating and performing inFreedom From and Freedom To as an opportunity to combine most of her creative interests in a risk-taking and vulnerable way. It uses an ensemble of dancers and improvising musicians that are remarkably diverse in their approaches to dance, instrumentation, and backgrounds.

amanda maraist is a movement deviser + improviser from the texas gulf coast, living in chicago.

she co-directs bim bom studios + works collaboratively with movers, musicians and artists. most recently with Irene Hsiao, Helen Lee, Harlan Rosen, Gina Hoch-Stall, Chrissy Martin, Freedom From and Freedom To, Khecari, Ayako Kato / Art Union Humanscape and independently.

her movement work exists as both dance-making and physical space-making. using authentic movement practices and meticulously rendered improvisational scores, her work is process-forward with a do-it-together demeanor.

she is supported by a 2024 Links Hall Co-MISSIONS Residency, a 2025 residency at the Ragdale Foundation, a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant, and is a Synapse Arts New Works artist for 2025. bim bom studios is a 2024 recipient of the City of Chicago’s Small Business Improvement Fund grant for capital improvements, and has also received programming support from the Cook County Small Business Bureau’s Source Fund in 2024.
