The Anger Project is a body-based, socially-responsive artistic practice rooted in community and creativity facilitated by Haas. Through workshops, performances, and films, we create space for people to move through anger. What we do shifts depending on resources, location, and the people involved, but at the heart of this work is a commitment to honoring anger through collective expression, deep listening, and radical presence.
On August 23rd The Anger Project is hosting two events at bim bom. Join us for one or both!
1-3pm The Anger Project: A Body-Based Workshop
During this workshop, we'll engage in an Anger Activity. You are welcome to bring soft objects into the space such as towels, pillows, or other props that can be safely hit, struck, shaken, or thrown. We’ll also explore other forms of expression through movement and sound. This workshop is an invitation to explore anger through the body with creativity and within community. Each person's experience will be different. Participation is always invitational, and people are encouraged to engage at whatever level feels right for them.
Body focused, workshops rely heavily on movement improvisation, writing, sharing and grounding exercises. No art/dance experience of any kind is needed to participate.
Things to bring:
Pen and paper/notebook for writing/drawing
Warm/cool (depending on your needs), loose, comfortable clothing to move in
Optional soft props for movement and anger expression (towels, pillows, etc.)
Water to stay hydrated
A pillow and blanket if you feel you might want them
4-5:30pm The Anger Project: Film Screening & Collective Reflection
The Anger Project is currently creating a documentary-style film series, each short film highlighting one person’s anger story through movement and conversation. During this gathering, we will share one of these films, The Anger Project: Celina's Story, a short documentary that follows Celina Fierro, a queer, sober barber and artist whose barbershop has become a space of healing, honesty, and chosen family.
Told entirely in her own voice, the film explores how one person navigates addiction, anger, and identity, not through institutions or systems, but through, creativity, perseverance, and deep community connection. Filmed in a deeply intimate and observational style, the footage captures Celina through a typical day in her life. Cutting hair in the barbershop. Lifting weights at the gym. Performing late-night DJ sets. Her narration overlays these scenes, offering raw, unfiltered reflection on what it takes to stay sober, stay connected, and stay human. Rather than presenting recovery as a linear journey or a completed arc, the film sits with the reality of ongoing struggle, and the strength it takes to keep showing up.
